The first day of the 2010 Asia Australia Leadership Conference was opened with praise and worship, as well as intercessory prayers led by Pdt. Eli Mendrova (IFGF GISI Jakarta). It started the conference which took place at the Great Western Resort Convention Hall in Serpong. There were a total of 192 people there, consisting of pastors, leaders (L1, L2) from all of Asia & Australia, and also 13 guests who are chairmen, general secretaries, and representatives of the affiliated synods of IFGF GISI, which are: GPSK, GAPPIN, GPIE, GKPB, and GST.

After the opening greetings by Pdt. Erna Iskandar (IFGF GISI General Secretary), Pdt. Budi Hidajat (IFGF GISI President) continued with the Update & Highlights of IFGF GISI Worldwide (5 Agenda of the Executive Council). Here he outlined the progress of IFGF GISI’s movement during the first and second quarters of this year, as well as the general development of the movement, which was hoped to inspire every LC participant so that every IFGF GISI church may continue to go strong and growing. In this session, leaders were also motivated to keep moving forward in serving and reaching out to people who are not yet in Christ. This is in accordance with the mission of IFGF GISI, “People is Our Mission”.
The second session consisted of a Case Study about the development of IFGF GISI Qatar. The session began with a video of Qatar and a presentation of the church’s development during the past 2 years by Pdp. Jimmy Nixon (Satellite Pastor of IFGF GISI Qatar). The Case Study gave much inspiration and also many inputs to those present. How could IFGF GISI Qatar, only 2 years of age, do so many things in the midst of the challenges they face? What are the strong points of the ministry in Qatar? How could they “break barriers” from 50 congregate members to 200? How could they do all of the ministry activities without a fulltime Pastor? How do they evaluate their ministry every year? And many more.

Every LC participant was given some time to hold group discussions with participants from their churches and some gave presentations on what they have learned from Qatar. As well, they presented the changes that they will make in their own local churches in the future, with a focus on the 5 agenda:
1. CHURCH PLANTING
2. LEADESRHIP DEVELOPMENT
3. CHURCH DEVELOPMENT
4. MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT
5. ORGANIZATION (Good Governance)

Pdm. Tawe (IFGF GISI Beijing, China), Pdp. Yantho Nazareth (IFGF GISI Pekanbaru), and Pdm. Fredy Walewangko (IFGF GISI Cirebon) also presented their opinions on the key to IFGF GISI Qatar’s success and the changes they will do in their churches. According to them: leadership, strong commitment, the unity of the team, as well as doing exactly what has been instructed by HQ, are among the things that are key to that success.

This Case Study discussion was hoped to motivate every AALC participant to continue moving forward and keep their high spirits in developing their local churches.

The 2010 AALC in the evening continued with an Opening Dinner to provide a place for fellowship among the participants from all Asia & Australia, as well as all affiliation delegates. The evening at the Great Western Convention Hall was filled with a sense of togetherness and joy. That same evening, an MOU was signed between Pastor Daniel Pham (President of UGOC, Vietnam) and IFGF GISI represented by Pdt. Budi Hidajat (IFGF GISI President) as a start of our cooperation and also a follow up of Harvest Festival Vietnam last June 2010. “I am so thankful to be a part of the big family of IFGF GISI. I believe that our church will continue to progress much more in the future because we are now a part of the big network of IFGF GISI,” testifies Ps. Daniel Pham.
