VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

To fill the school holiday with activities, many churches and institutions held various events. IFGF GISI Purwokerto took this opportunity to have their GOL Kids Department hold the Vacation Bible School with the theme JESUS MY SUPERHERO. The purpose of this VBS was to be able to use the children's school holiday in a fun and purposeful way, so that they would come to know God and His Word more through a creative and easy-to-understand way. Also kids were lead to adapt with their peers and know their environment better. And at the same time, those who are not yet in Sunday School were reached out to.

This VBS was held for 3 days, starting from Thursday, 1 July 2010 and ending on Saturday, 3 July 2010. About 32 children joined in this year's VBS. The first and second day activities were held in the church, including praise & worship, sharing of God's Word, and indoor games. After the sharing of God's Word by sir Paul, kids were prayed for one by one and they were touched by God's spirit. Sir Paul said that there would be kids that day who would be filled with the Holy Spirit. At the same time, during prayer, there was one child who experienced healing from the family problems he had been experiencing. In addition, those that came were also taught to wash their hands before they ate, to eat by themselves, and to throw garbage in the right place. During the sessions, kids were divided into several groups and given scores. Those groups that were quiet during the sharing of God's Word or those who threw garbage in the right place would get points. But those who were mischievous during sessions will have their points deducted. Groups that received the highest points got prizes.

On the third day, an outbound was held in Perhutani Baturaden. The kids were guided by the Perhutani team, and they really enjoyed the games. There were 6 games including the long-awaited flying fox. The last game was "catching an eel", which turned out to be lots of fun. Through those games, some children gained more confidence, freed from their past traumas. And after the games ended, all participants and their parents enjoyed lunch together. It rained a little, but that didn't hamper the fun in those that were there. At about 12.30 PM, all went back to Purwokerto.
