Praying & Fasting

PRAYING & FASTING

There are many reasons why people fast. In the Old Testament we find Daniel fasting and praying to confess the sin and ask for God's forgiveness over Israel (Daniel 9). David prayed and fasted for his sick enemies (Psalm 35:13). Meanwhile, King Ahab humbled himself before God so calamity may pass over him (1 Kings 21:25-29).

From time to time, we see that believers in the Bible responded to their needs by seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting. As God's power is released, breakthroughs are experienced. As God's people in His mission field, we need to focus our prayer & fasting on the Truth of Christ, so we could gain the spiritual strength we need to fight and win our battles. In addition, we are also called to pray for a bigger purpose. We intercede for the people we love, for our communities, and for the world, so that we will be able to bring godly influence upon them.

During these 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting, let us empty ourselves from temptations, be filled with the Holy Truth, and let God revive us in the spirit. And at the same time, let's continue reminding ourselves of the i3 we need to do in our lives: Intimacy-Intercession-Influence. Imagine that as we pray & fast together corporately, the mightier the forces are against evil everywhere. So, stay strong and focused these 40 days and come forth together as a powerful force to bless the world!
